Waseem Speaks up Muhammad Amir's retirement from international cricket Exclusive

(mnm.com.pk) Chief selector Mohammad Wasim has asked everyone to "respect" left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir's decision to retire from international cricket.

The Karachi Kings fast bowler announced late last year that he would not be available for selection in the national team under the current management of head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.

Wasim said leaving Pak Peace was not an "easy" decision.

"My position on this issue is very simple," he said. "Retirement is not an easy decision for a player - it's not a small thing. Whoever makes this decision and whenever he makes that decision, it takes a lot of hard work, a lot of thinking, and a lot of people, including a player's family and close friends.

"When someone makes such a big decision, then everyone should respect that decision and not wonder whether the player should reverse his decision or not. At this point, Aamir has made his decision and we have to respect it. If he doesn't retire, it will be a different story, but I respect his decision at the moment.
