In a tweet, he said the chief executive of Cambridge Assessment International Education had written him a letter requesting that he reschedule the exams.
The letter said, "We discussed the start date of Cambridge O Level in Pakistan and the IGCSE exams on May 15." We will now ask you to consider whether Whether or not Cambridge is able to launch O level and IGCSE from May 10. "
The letter added that the change in history would enable more students to progress and improve their equity in the education system as they would have the opportunity to better demonstrate what they have learned.
"After consultation with the provinces and stakeholders, we have agreed," Mahmood said, adding that O-Level and IGCSE would now start from May 10.
However, one-level exams will be scheduled so that "students can progress to the next stage of their education."
On the other hand, Matriculation and Intermediate examinations of Class IX, 10, 11, and 12 will be held as per schedule.
"Last year, the government allowed students to pass exams, but this year it will not happen," Mahmood said. "We don't know what the coronavirus will look like in the future, but we are determined to conduct tests right now."
