incident of Janikhel: Protesters ends their Protest, sit-in after agreement Exclusive

(mnm.com.pk) Tribals and relatives of four teenage boys, whose bullet-riddled bodies were found in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, last week, called off their sit-in on Monday after reaching an agreement with the government.

They have been protesting with the bodies of four youths in Jeni Khel for the past one week.


Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Sunday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck. However, they were later allowed to continue their march.


The bodies of four teenage boys were buried in the cemetery last Sunday. They were identified as Atifullah, Ahmad Khan, Rafullah, Muhammad Rahim Khan. They ranged in age from 14 to 18.


The agreement was signed after successful talks between KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and a government team led by protesters at the Bannu Commissioner's Office.






Details of Agreement:

1. The government will ensure complete peace in the region and rid it of armed groups. It will not snatch any licensed weapons from the "peaceful" people of the area, and no house will be demolished in the process.


2. The government will immediately start investigating and reviewing the Jani Khel tribesmen who are in government custody. This will be done within three months on a priority basis. Those found innocent will be released immediately. If anyone is found guilty, then he will be punished according to the laws of Pakistan.


the. The families of the four teenagers will be compensated Rs. 2.5 million under the Martyrs Package.


The. The government will announce a special development package for Jani Khel, which could not be prepared due to unrest in the area.


J. The Jani Khel tribe wants to meet top government officials to resolve their issues. It will be arranged as soon as possible.


6. Jani Khel tribesmen and other protesters arrested on March 28 will be released immediately.


four. The murder of four teenage boys will be investigated independently and fairly and those found guilty will be punished. Strict action will be taken against such incidents in the future.


8. In the light of this agreement, the Jani Khel tribe announced an end to the protests and sit-ins.
