(mnm.com.pk) Asad Omar, Pakistan's Federal Minister for Planning, declared on Twitter that the first batch of Kansas vaccine for Covid 19 was sent to Pakistan today.
This is the vaccine during which clinical trials were conducted in Pakistan.
The brand name of the vaccine is Convidecia.
Dr. Faisal Sultan, Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health, said on Sunday that more than one million CoV-19 vaccines would be brought to Pakistan from China this week.
The Punjab Health Minister said that on March 14, the provincial government was in talks with Cane Sino Biologics Inc. to import canon virus vaccine.
"We are in talks with the casino and perhaps, we will import our own vaccines," Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid told mnm.com.pk. "The government of Pakistan has allocated Rs 150,000 million for the purchase of vaccines alone."
On March 21, the cabinet approved the prices of Russian and Chinese vaccines. According to a circular, an injection of China's Convidecia vaccine will cost Rs 4,225. The four doses of Sputnik V will cost Rs 16,560.
Pakistan is currently injecting frontline health workers and people over the age of 60 using informed vaccines donated by China.
Registration is open to everyone over the age of 50 on Tuesday.
