Karachi (mnm.com.pk) Health Minister Sindh Dr. Azra Pechoho announced, This morning that the Sindh government has allocated Rs. 500 million for the purchase and import of the Covid-19 vaccine. we're just waiting for approval from Dr Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health.

However, Dr Sultan had said yesterday that the provinces do not need a no-objection letter (NOC) from the federal government to import the corona virus vaccine.
Dr Pechoho indicated that the provincial government was considering a Chinese-made cannabis vaccine.
"It's a single dose shot and will help a lot in vaccination," he said. "We want as many people as possible to be vaccinated," the provincial health minister said.
"I know vaccination rates are very slow," said Dr. Pechoho, adding that there was a limited supply of vaccines.
There are 175 adult immunization centers (AVCs) in Sindh. Elaborating on the polio vaccination program in the province, he said that there are 19 cities in Karachi, eight in Hyderabad and five to six in other districts.
"Unless we have enough vaccines, adhering to the corona virus SOPs has become even more important," he said.
The federal government will receive an additional 1 million doses of the vaccine in the next few days. The government had issued additional orders for Chinese-made sonoform and cannabis vaccines.
The aide to the prime minister on health had said that more than one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine would be sent to Pakistan from China this week.

Dr. Sultan added that several million additional doses are in the pipeline and will be delivered in April.
'Sindh Quad 19 situation could get worse'
Dr. Pechoho warned that the situation of Covid 19 in Sindh is not as bad as it is in Punjab but it may deteriorate soon.
Infection in Punjab had increased due to the virus in the UK. "If it comes to Sindh, it will do a lot of damage," he said.
The Health Minister said that there was tremendous pressure on hospitals in Punjab as hundreds of patients were admitted every week. "We don't have more than 500 ventilators," he said. "What happens to other people when they need ventilators?"
It is important that we remain vigilant and strictly adhere to SOPs.
Dr. Pechoho appealed to people to stay away from public places and not to hold parties and gatherings at their homes.
Earlier, he warned that health workers would not be allowed to work at health facilities by refusing to take COVID-19 vaccine shots.
In Sindh, 265,158 incidents and 4,495 deaths have been reported. A total of 255,952 people have recovered from the virus in the province.
